A Successful ART Show!!!!

I was thrilled to photograph my students and their families yesterday at the opening day of our district art show. I think the rain brought many viewers. WE have received RAVE reviews by our impressed visitors. I am very proud of my current students and pleased to be reunited with former students exhibiting their artwork in middle school and high school. Congratulations to all artists! A Special thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Kahles who joined me along with many Amelia Elementary families. I plan on returning art work to exhibitors by Wed., 4/20. Be on the look out for photos coming soon to my blog. Happy Easter to all. love Mrs. Koehler

The show will be held at Withamsville-Tobasco Elementary school from 12noon-5pm on Saturday and Sunday, April 16 and 17. I will be there Saturday from 12noon until 2pm photographing your artwork and snapping photos of artists and their guests. Hope to see you then. Don't forget Mr. Crandall will have a Music Concert on Tuesday evening. Mrs. Koehler

March Madness

Our fourth and fifth grade students will be enjoying a friendly contest for the month of March. They will be earning points based on classroom procedures, working cooperatively and clean up procedures. At the end of the month, the top score for each grade level will earn a "FREE ART day" in which they can vote for their choice of materials (for example Paint or clay as their material of choice). Fourth grade students are comparing and contrasting the styles of Monet and Vincent van Gogh. Students will create an oil pastel still life in the style of either artist's style.
Third grade students are wrapping up their Native American Indian unit by creating a story writing using symbols. The students are enjoying "cracking each others' codes" and reading each others' stories. Second grade students have read the book "Tar Beach" by Faith Ringgold. Each student has chosen a place they would love to own. First grade artists are studying Claude Monet's paintings. They will be creating an oil pastel resist of waterlilies. Lastly Kindergarten students will be practicing their scissor skills by cutting and gluing mosaic shamrocks. Happy St. Patrick's Day to all.
